The other half is contributed by the viewer, audience, reader, or hearer. Every reader reads a slightly different book; every viewer sees a painting that is a bit unlike that which the next person sees; and so on. That is why one can say, "I loved that film, and another might answer, "I thought it awful!" Thet\y are both exactly right; foreach saw a different film, filtered through their own inScape.
