This week the work on more Essence Portraits of flowers continued. While we underwent a last gasp from winter outside, inside my focus is on spring, even summer, creating images of roses.
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet;” is said by Juliet in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Our names do tend to define us, or at least present us to others. Names can be understood as a kind of word portrait of who we are.
Fall Tree Aleph is created of the original letters of Deuteronomy 6. These include the famous Shema, which all observant Jews, since the time of Moses (thus including John the Baptist, Jesus and the disciples) pray every morning and evening.
